Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Brut Champagne
In the history of champagne and the house of Veuve Clicquot, La Grande Dame is mythical - the pinnacle of sophistication and elegance, the best of the best in terms of quality. Champagne La Grande Dame was created in honor of Madame Clicquot, who was famous for her boldness, dedication to quality and perseverance. More than two centuries later, these features remain a hallmark of a prestigious brand known and admired by the entire world.
Pinot Noir accounts for 64% percent. It comes from the grand cru vineyards in the village of Ay in the Grande Valle area and from the vineyards in the villages of Verzeney, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy from the Montagne de Reims area. Chardonnay represents 36% and comes from the grand cru vineyards of the villages of Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger from the Côte des Blancs area.
La Grande Dame 2006 is a pale gold color with jade-colored rays. This wine is crystal clear with incredibly sophisticated bubbles.
First of all, the typical characteristics of Chardonnay wine are perceptible, namely floral and mineral aroma (acacia, fern, chalk). With the shaking of the wine, the smell of candied fruit (citrus, apricot, quince) and sweet almonds appears, which then reappears in the mouth. If we circle the glass with the wine for a few more minutes, rare notes such as peat malt, tobacco and delicate medicinal herbs gradually appear.
This aromatic and distinctly complex palette tastes in the mouth. The taste of the wine is clear and clean and perfectly balanced with a charming silky softness. La Grande Dame 2004 with a lace structure has a long, lively and structured finish. This wine has incredible aging potential. The 2006 La Grande Dame vintage with the perfect Veuve Clicquot style represents the pinnacle of refinement without losing the legendary power of the blend, which contains almost two-thirds of Pinot Noir wine.
