Vosne Romanee Les Suchots 1er Cru 2013
The wines were planted in 1937. Most of them are root-resistant. 0.4 hectares, so very small quantities. Owned by Nicolas Potel since 2009. Completely unmounted, fermented as a whole grape. Then a further 4-5 weeks of maceration and without deduction extended in a medium-sized wooden barrel. Red fruit with great sweetness, an extremely classic orientation. Plum, sloe and a lot of sweet cherry, also black cherry. Also a hint of dark forest berries, but then this beautiful red fruit made from sour cherry and currant comes up again and again. Super fine tannins in the mouth. Everything looks extremely polished. Very long, very intense, but never sharp in the tannins. Plus a lot of limestone. A pretty perfect Vosne Romanee that probably only has the disadvantage of the price. But otherwise it's superb. This is archetypal Vosne Romanee, it is a real pleasure.
