The Auchentoshan Three Wood is distilled three times. The name Three Wood is due to the maturation in 3 different wooden barrels. First this whisky matures for about 10 years in ex-Bourbon casks, then in Oloroso Sherry casks for another 2 years or so, before it is finally put into a PX-Sherry cask for another 6 months to add a good punch of sweetness.
