Jakončič Carolina Noir 2016
Jakončič Carolina Noir 2012 is a medium intense ruby color. It is intense on the nose, with a distinctive smell of tobacco, coffee and ripe plums. In the mouth, the wine is dry with ripe tannins. The taste is ripe, just as we expect from a wine matured on lees in barrique barrels. The wine has a long and elegant aftertaste.
Composition of varieties:
Pinot Noir
Method of Aging and Production:
The grapes are macerated for more than a month. The wine is then aged on lees in 225 liter oak barrels for two years. About 70% of the barrels are made of Allier oak and 30% are made of Slavonian oak.
Vineyards:
The Goriška Brda winegrowing district, characterized by hilly terrain and mild sub-Mediterranean climate.
The 20 year old terraced vineyard is grown under the single-Guyot system. Planting density is 5,500 vines per acre.
Winemaking:
The unique buzzing of a tractor out there in the beard is the only evidence that the technique can enter the world, which otherwise builds on manual labor, on tradition and knowledge that is passed down from generation to generation. The experience of the elderly drives the young people's inexperience, and at our farm, we are most proud that parents and children share the care of the vineyards, wineries and marketing.
