Only two years after the marriage of Francois Clicquot and Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, her husband died. Barbe-Nicole Clicquot then took over her late husband's company in 1810.
In 1986, Veuve Clicquot merged with Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessey.
Today Jacques Peters is the head winemaker of Veuve Clicquot.
The motto of the company was then as now 'Only one quality - the finest'.
Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec is a tribute to the taste of the 19th century. The higher Chardonnay content strengthens sweetness and silkiness.
Tasting notes:
Golden yellow in the glass with a beautiful shine. The grape variety Pinot Meunier brings a fruity note to the champagne. The Chardonnay only refines the champagne. On the palate it has hints of ripe fruit, citrus fruits, yeast pastry and a slight grilled note. Long lasting with a noticeable acidity in the finish.Grape varieties: 45% Pinot Noir, 30-35% Meunier, 20-25% Chardonnay
residual sugar: 45 g/l
Drinking temperature: 8 - 10°C
Closure: Natural cork
The champagne can be served as an aperitif or with seafood and hard cheese.
Demi-Sec is best served in a carafe - this allows its aromas to fully develop and unfold.
